One of the most ambitious reimaginations of public housing in the country recently took a major step forward in Jersey City, as a plan to create a mixed-income community in the Holland Gardens complex received a milestone approval. During their July 28 meeting, Jersey City’s Planning Board greenlit a plan for 235 16th Street.

A proposal to redevelop a 1.3-acre L-shaped assemblage along New Jersey Route 28 in Plainfield into a five-story mixed-use building that includes a restaurant and luxury apartments recently took a major step forward after the city’s planning board approved a site plan for the project. Officials voted to approve the application from 1314 West Front Street Urban Renewal LLC on August 6.
