Michael Malone and the Tar Heels have been big game hunting on the recruiting trail, going after some of the top-ranked prospects that the high school recruiting circuit has to offer. Searching for an elite-level big man to add to their 2027 recruiting class, UNC has identified another potential target that would fit nicely in Chapel Hill: five-star Lewis Uvwo.

It's no secret that Michael Malone and the UNC basketball program are putting a heavy emphasis on finding a lead guard to headline their 2027 recruiting class. With Terrence Brown having just one season of eligibility remaining, the Tar Heels already know that they will have at least one void to fill in the backcourt next offseason.

The fact that Jake Schaffner and Owen Hull are going through the process of fulfilling their lifelong dreams together is epic in its own right. From Chapel Hill to Boston, the former Diamond Heel stars are now beginning their professional baseball careers, having the unique opportunity to have been drafted by the same franchise.

As expected, the ace of the Diamond Heels is officially beginning his professional baseball career. After being drafted in the third round of the 2026 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates, Jason DeCaro has signed on the dotted line, agreeing to his first big league contract. While some players sign for less than their projected slot value, the Pirates felt it was a necessity to pay DeCaro a little bit more to ensure that they got a deal done with the former Tar Heel.

Many Gonzaga fans were surprised to see assistant coach Jorge Sanz announce he was leaving the program after eight seasons in Spokane. What we found out shortly after was that not only was Sanz leaving Gonzaga, but he already had a new opportunity lined up elsewhere. That opportunity, fittingly enough, is in Chapel Hill.

It's been quite the summer for Class of 2028 point guard Brady Pettigrew. The rising junior has impressed on the EYBL circuit while playing for Brad Beal Elite. Pettigrew, a 6-foot-3, 170-pounder from Lisle, Illinois, saved his best summer moments for Peach Jam, the biggest stage that AAU basketball has to offer, showcasing his elite skillset and clutch genes while competing in front of coaches from all across the country.

Even dating back to when Armando Bacot was dominating as a player at the University of North Carolina, Tar Heel fans already became very familiar with his younger brother, who happens to be a rising star basketball player in his own right. King Bacot, a combo guard from the Class of 2029, has already established himself among the top prospects in his graduating class. Tar Heel fans have been clamoring for UNC to extend an offer his way, wanting him to continue the Bacot legacy in Chapel Hill.

Following the conclusion of the 2026 MLB Draft, many wondered what the future would look like for left-hander Folger Boaz. After going undrafted, Boaz had a decision to make. Does he return to North Carolina for what would be his senior year, or take a chance on himself by signing with a professional team? Well, that answer was finally revealed on Wednesday.

The transfer portal in college athletics is essentially a chaotic form of free agency. Programs across the country find guys they like, backchannel to their people to see if there is interest in transferring, and, in the event the idea is mutual, that player ends up entering the portal to change locations. Basically, if you have a good player (or players), there's a very high chance that there are people associated to other programs who are reaching out to see what their future plans are.
