Driver Abandons Jeep After Smashing into a Cable Barrier on SR-8 This Morning
A cable barrier did its job on SR-8 near Shaker Church Road after being struck by a Jeep this morning, which stopped traffic in the lane for hours. No injuries, but the driver was nowhere to be found at the scene, having abandoned it after the crash. The vehicle was only abandoned because the driver COULD walk away, and that was likely made possible by the cable barrier. Cable barriers look simple: a series of flexible steel cables strung between posts along the median or roadside of a highway.

Let's just say it was an eventful morning for WSP troopers after a high-speed chase ended in a fiery crash, one injured, and a DUI arrest. Washington State Patrol Trooper Kameron Watts posted the arrest details early this morning, and the list of charges is rather long and hard to believe. This is a lot for before sunrise. A vehicle was clocked at 93 miles per hour in a 60-mile-per-hour zone, but when troopers moved to stop it, the driver took off.

His planned route was supposed to take him from Ingalls Creek, Esmeralda Basin, Vann Epps, Jack Creek then to Eight Mile Trails, a location southwest of Leavenworth.
