A Nebraska Pick 4 player who bought a ticket in Lincoln is holding a $3,125 winner. The Nebraska Lottery says the winning ticket from the Thursday, September 17 drawing was sold at Speedee Mart, 5501 Holdrege Street. The winning numbers were 09, 03, 06 and 04. According to the Nebraska Lottery, the odds of winning the $3,125 top prize in Pick 4 are 1 in 10,000. Pick 4 is drawn daily, with players selecting four numbers from zero through nine. Depending on the type of wager, prizes can reach $6,000.

Omaha has been selected as one of three U.S. host cities for the 2027 FIVB Women’s Volleyball World Cup. FIVB President Fabio Azevedo announced Thursday that Omaha’s CHI Health Center, home of the Omaha Supernovas, will join venues in Anaheim, California, and Orlando, Florida, as U.S. host sites for the 32-nation tournament. Omaha and Orlando will host pool play and round-of-16 matches, while Anaheim will host the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship match.

U.S. Sen. Pete Ricketts says rising diesel prices are putting additional pressure on Nebraska farmers and ranchers as harvest approaches. During his weekly conference call with Nebraska reporters Wednesday, Ricketts said higher fuel costs are also affecting the transportation industry. “No doubt that diesel is putting a major pressure on our farmers and ranchers, and of course, on all the transportation that relies on our diesel trucks to move the goods around our country,” Ricketts said.

Nebraska’s General Fund tax receipts exceeded projections in August, ending five consecutive months in which monthly revenues fell short of forecasts. The Nebraska Department of Revenue reported net General Fund receipts of $653 million for August, about $7.6 million, or 1.2%, above the $645 million forecast. Gross receipts totaled $765 million, 1.3% above forecast, while tax refunds totaled nearly $112 million—about $2.2 million higher than projected.

Two Nebraska Supreme Court decisions issued Thursday have helped settle what voters will—and won’t—see on the November 3 general election ballot. In one case, the court unanimously rejected an effort to force the Nebraska Democratic Party to replace its withdrawn U.S. Senate nominee. In the other, justices ruled 6-1 that the proposed Respect Nebraska Voters constitutional amendment cannot appear on the ballot.

Lincoln firefighters contained a Tuesday evening fire at a southeast Lincoln apartment building to one room. LFR crews were sent to the Lodge Apartments near 48th and Old Cheney around 5:30 after receiving a report of smoke in a hallway from an unknown source. Battalion Chief Bob Watton told KLIN’s Chris Lofgreen that firefighters initially saw no signs of a fire. “The first crew arrived on location, had no smoke from the outside,” Watton says.

Lincoln Police are investigating a shooting that left a man injured in a residential area west of North Cotner Boulevard and Vine Street. Officers were dispatched around 11 p.m. to the 100 block of Trenridge Way after receiving a report that someone had been shot.

Lincoln voters will decide at least three proposed changes to the City Charter this November after the Nebraska Supreme Court rejected the city’s position that the measures should wait until its May 2027 municipal election. In a 5-2 decision Wednesday, the state’s highest court granted Attorney General Mike Hilgers’ request for a writ of mandamus, ordering Lincoln officials to submit all three citizen-initiated amendments from Good Government Lincoln to voters at the November 3 general election.

Lincoln Police are on the scene after a body was found near 1st and M Street around 8:30 Thursday morning. LPD officers responded to a report of a body found in a field. Public Information Officer Erika Thomas says officers found the body of a man believed to be in his 50’s dead on the ground. The investigation into his death is ongoing as officers work to identify the man and what led to his death.

A 27-year-old woman has died after being critically injured in a camper fire in southwest Lincoln. LPD and and Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded just before 11:00 Wednesday morning to a camper fire at 2229 South 8th Street. LFR says a bystander went inside the camper to rescue the woman. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. Police say the woman died from her injuries Wednesday evening. Her identity is being withheld while family members are notified. An autopsy is scheduled for Friday.
