Every Monday morning, for the past three-plus years, I’ve been sending out a playlist called ‘The Monday Morning Brew’ via this Substack – it’s one of the perks of supporting us (details below). The music is eclectic, covering folk, psych, ambient, jazz and more. We also delve into the past alongside new releases. As it’s human-curated, it doesn’t sound like an algorithmic echo chamber, and you can expect some unexpected twists and turns. It’s perfect for music discovery.

There is so much great music being released at the moment that the playlists and mixtapes I create are often the only way I can cover a new release. We open with one that we have covered: a track from Elanor Moss’ debut “The Knife, The Needle”, an album that balances a quiet, subtle mode of expression with a searing intensity of feeling.

Photo Credit:Fortepan / UWM Libraries In our latest KLOF Mixtape, you can hear new music from Falmouth-based Blind Yeo, with two tracks from their debut album The Lemoine Point, Black Duck & Elena Setién, Marvin Tate, Sam Amidon & Sam Wilkes, Arun Sood & Angeline Morrison, Macdara Yeates, Mama’s Broke, Paahto & The Bull (Patrick “Paahto” Cummins and John Francis Flynn), Al Khair, FRMR, Laura Veirs and more.

We were a trio of heads who happened to dig traditional folk music. Heather Wood, The Young Tradition The Young Tradition were formed on 18 April 1965 by Peter Bellamy, Royston Wood and Heather Wood. They met in Scot’s Hoose, a London pub (renamed The Spice of Life in 1975). The trio took their name from the Folk Club that met in the basement, which is now a subterranean music venue called the Backstage Cellar Bar.
