Maine and Michigan Senate races are neck and neck, CNN polls find
(CNN) — The critical Senate contests in both Maine and Michigan feature tight races with no clear leader, according to new CNN polls conducted by SSRS. But voters in the two states see their choices through two very different lenses. In Maine, the race centers more on likely voters’ broadly negative views of incumbent Sen. Susan Collins and President Donald Trump than on their impressions of the late-breaking Democratic nominee, Troy Jackson.
Were you planning to buy a home, but decided to hit pause?
(CNN) — For the past few years, the math of buying a home in the United States has been tough: low inventory, high mortgage rates and record-high prices have made homeownership increasingly expensive. Earlier this year, there was hope that the housing affordability picture might finally be improving. Mortgage rates briefly fell below 6% for the first time in three years, offering prospective buyers some relief. But that was short-lived.

An onslaught of midterm polling is coming. Here’s how to sort through it
(CNN) — These days, it’s easier than ever to conduct some form of polling and as difficult as it’s ever been to get it right. Completely faked numbers like a phony “poll” of the Los Angeles mayoral race that made waves last month are thankfully rare. That said, even real polls can have serious flaws in the ways they’re conducted or an agenda behind their release. And the most rigorous polling doesn’t come with any guarantees.
Another group of immigrants may be on the verge of losing deportation protections
Washington (CNN) — Soledad Miranda’s eyes fill with tears as she packs boxes for a move she’s hoping she won’t have to make. “I feel defeated,” she says. For 25 years, the program known as Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, has allowed Miranda and around 170,000 other Salvadorans to work legally in the United States and protected them from deportation. Now, with a deadline looming, many are on edge awaiting the Trump administration’s decision on their futures.
