The 15th-ranked Kansas volleyball team battled a pair of top-five foes to begin its season at the Opening Spike Classic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but lost in four sets to each. The Jayhawks had their fair share of opportunities to take the upper hand against both host No. 4 Pitt (on Friday) and No. 5 Stanford (on Sunday), but never pulled ahead in the match.

The Supreme Court gave us a start recently, with what looked, at first glance, like a win for Trump’s efforts to suppress mail-in ballots. But, as Andrew Egger explained, that isn’t quite what happened. In broad outline, the court stayed a lower court injunction while the legality of Trump’s attempted interference will be decided later. It was a temporary, procedural win for Trump, but not a permission slip. Not yet, anyway.
