Before we were Local Profile, we were Plano Profile, a community magazine founded in 1983.
Since my wife and I purchased Plano Profile in August 2015, we have been passionate about sharing content that is both universally powerful and uniquely local. Moreover, we have looked long and hard at what being part of this community means, and it’s so much more than a single—albeit incredible—city.
In 2019, we rebranded from Plano Profile to Local Profile.
This brand refresh reflects that communities span borders, and so do we. It’s not a new philosophy for us. The Local Profile name simply formalizes the mindset we’ve had for a long time now—that if someone lives in Plano, they’ll still care about the interesting things happening in Frisco. Life doesn’t stop where city borders do, and to live in Collin County is to enjoy the benefits of every municipality in the metroplex. Ultimately, we are a Frisco magazine, a Plano magazine, a McKinney magazine, an Allen magazine, a Prosper magazine … we are Local Profile, a local magazine serving all of the Collin County community. One hundred reformers. One hundred participants. And 100 years since Joseph and Clara Pilates opened their first New York studio. BODYBAR Pilates is bringing those numbers together in Frisco this September, where the North Texas-born fitness brand says it will attempt to host the largest reformer Pilates class on record. The 50-minute class will take place Sept. 13 at the Omni Frisco Hotel at The Star, with 100 participants exercising simultaneously on 100 reformers.
AC Hotel McKinney Opens Reservations Ahead Of Fall Opening
McKinney’s Craig Ranch area is getting another place to stay, and travelers can already put it on their calendars. AC Hotel McKinney by Marriott is now accepting reservations, with Nov. 15 listed as the first bookable date. The five-story hotel will bring 137 rooms, including eight suites, to the Hub 121 development as the area continues to grow into a destination for business, dining, entertainment and weekend stays.
JPMorganChase Expands In Frisco With New HALL Park Office
JPMorganChase is adding another North Texas address to its growing footprint, this time bringing 120 bankers to Frisco’s HALL Park. The financial services giant is leasing 41,000 square feet in The Tower at HALL Park at 6605 Warren Parkway, where teams from Commercial Banking, the Private Bank and Select Wealth Management are expected to move in early 2028.
Wylie Votes To Suspend Flock Camera Contract After Resident Concerns
Wylie residents who have been asking questions about the city’s license plate reader cameras got an answer this week. On Aug. 25, the Wylie City Council unanimously voted to suspend its contract with Flock Safety, at least for now. The decision comes after more than 700 residents signed a petition asking the city to reconsider its relationship with the company, which operates automated license plate reader cameras used by law enforcement.
Colorado-Favorite Snarf’s Sandwiches Is Heading To Frisco
Colorado-to-Texas transplants like myself have a reason to celebrate: Snarf’s Sandwiches, the Boulder-born sub shop with a devoted following, is making its way to Frisco. According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, a $350,000 renovation is underway at 3930 Preston Road to make room for a new Snarf’s location. Construction began Aug. 1 and is expected to wrap up Nov. 15. So far, there’s no announced opening date or additional details about the restaurant.
EōS Fitness Opens Third Plano Gym, With Another Location On The Way
EōS Fitness opened its third Plano gym, but the fitness chain may not be finished expanding in the city. The new 45,000-square-foot club at 6101 K Ave. officially opened July 23 and will hold its grand opening celebration Aug. 29. Meanwhile, a recent state filing shows another EōS Fitness project planned less than 10 miles away on Coit Road. The K Avenue opening marks EōS' 32nd Texas gym, according to the company, adding another location to its existing Plano clubs on 15th Street and Preston Road.
