Locus, subtitled The Magazine of The Science Fiction & Fantasy Field, is an American magazine published monthly in Oakland, California. It is considered the news organ and trade journal for the English language science fiction and fantasy field. It also publishes comprehensive listings of all new books published in the genre. The magazine also presents the annual Locus Awards. Locus Online was launched in April 1997, as a semi-autonomous web version of Locus Magazine. Source

He wrote Arthuriana books Arthur War Lord (1994) and Far Beyond the Wave (1994), as well as several tie-in novels for Star Trek and Doom.

StokerCon - Locus
The tenth annual StokerCon, sponsored by the Horror Writers Association (HWA), was held June 4-7, 2026, both virtually and in person at the Westin Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. Guests of honor were Linda D. Addison, Rachel Harrison, Billy Martin, John Shirley, James Tynion IV, and Ann VanderMeer. The Stoker Awards were hosted by Kevin Wetmore Jr., and this year’s Lifetime Achievement Awards recipients were Jonathan Maberry and Lisa Morton.

Mark J. McGarry (1958-2026)
Author and editor Mark J. McGarry, 68, died in May 2026 in Paris, France. McGarry was born February 6, 1958 in Albany NY. He wrote Sun Dogs (1981) and Blank Slate (1984) as well as several genre works of short fiction published in magazines including Asimov’s, Analog, Stellar, Amazing Stories, and F&SF, including Nebula Award nominee “The Mercy Gate” (1998). He was the original editor of SF magazine Empire and a past editor of the SFWA Forum and Bulletin.
Buhkman International Booker Prize Judges Announced
The prize formerly known as the International Booker Prize has announced a partnership with Bukhman Philanthropies, which “has made a generous commitment to fund the next 10 years of the International Booker Prize.” The funding will double the prize awarded to the winning title from £50,000 to £100,000, split between the author and translator.
