Hey everyone! It’s been a while since we did a Friday Q&A so I figured we were overdue. Lot of things going on with the Commanders through training camp and preseason, so plenty of things to discuss. For anyone new here, I put up these posts and then you can jump into the comments section and leave as many questions/comments/suggestions as you like about whatever you have on your mind. I’ll be checking regularly throughout the day and replying to every question ASAP.

The Washington Commanders were dealt a huge blow on Saturday when star left tackle Laremy Tunsil suffered a torn triceps during practice. At the time of writing, it’s unclear exactly how long Tunsil will be out for, but it’s expected he’ll miss the majority of the season, if not all of it. Head coach Dan Quinn should give an update regarding Tunsil’s injury as the Commanders return to practice on Monday. It’s a massive loss for the Commanders.

The newest Washington Commander, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, is expected to be introduced to the media and join his new teammates for practice on Friday. Yesterday, I broke down what Diggs brings to Washington but today, I thought I’d look at how he might fit in David Blough’s new offense. The Commanders have one established receiver set in stone in Terry McLaurin. McLaurin will most likely be the X receiver in this offense, as he has been since he was drafted.

The Washington Commanders have signed wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a one-year contract. The Commanders have been linked with big name receivers all offseason, failing to land the biggest names in free agency and seeing the top receiver in the draft taken before their pick. 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk had long been linked to Washington but he was too busy making videos for social media instead of doing what he needed to do in order for the 49ers to cut him and make him available.

The Commanders held their first padded practice of training camp on Monday. I rounded up a few clips posted online by fans and was ready to do a round-up post yesterday, but the one clip of the offensive line vs defensive line one-on-one drills took over and felt like it deserved it’s own post. So today, I’m circling back to the other clips I found online on Monday to break down a few plays from that first padded practice.

There’s always a different level of hype and intensity when the pads come on for the first time and we finally get to see some physicality, especially in the trenches. Unfortunately, the team is still being very secretive with clips being posted online and fans in attendance being allowed to film, but some fans still posted a few clips One of the few clips I was able to find was a good one.

The Washington Commanders made an under the radar free agent signing just a few days before the start of training camp. With second-year cornerback Trey Amos starting camp on the PUP list, the Commanders were looking thin at corner, so they signed veteran Rasul Douglas to help fill out the room.

The Washington Commanders began their preparations for the 2026 season this week with the start of training camp. At the time of this post going out, the team has held three practice sessions, including one practice on Saturday that was open to fans. They have a day off on Sunday but on Monday they’ll have their first padded practice of the year. That’s when training camp really ramps up and we start to see some physicality as players battle for starting spots and roster spots.

Washington Commanders training camp officially opens today, meaning it’s finally time to see the 2026 roster in action as preparations for the new season begin to take shape. There’s often a lot of excitement around training camp, with discussions about position battles and roster projections occupying most of the discourse, but many overlook exactly what the players are going through in training camp.

Commanders training camp begins this week which means it’s time to look forward to some camp battles. There will always be competitive battles across the roster, especially for the final few roster spots, but the Commanders also have some interesting battles for starting positions this year too. Earlier in the offseason I broke down the camp battle that is set to take place for the starting left guard position between Chris Paul and Brandon Coleman.
