World War II brought fear, destruction, and unimaginable suffering to millions around the world. Yet in humanity’s darkest hour, an entire generation answered the call to serve. They asked for no recognition or reward yet history will forever remember them as heroes.

Yasui’s lifelong commitment to civil rights, democracy, and justice for all earned him the honor of the first Oregonian to receive the U.S. Presidential Medal of Freedom and have March 28th designated in perpetuity as Minoru Yasui Day in Oregon.
