TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. — For one day, Lt. j.g. David J. Naiman traded his role overseeing preventive medicine for a seat in the command suite, gaining firsthand insight into the decisions, competing priorities and uncertainty that come with leading a Navy Medicine command. Naiman, an environmental health officer and preventive medicine department head at Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command (NMRTC) Twentynine Palms, participated in the command’s “CO for a Day” program July 21.

After 56 years of dedicated service, Harue Uchihara, a beloved institution and hospital barber, is officially retiring. Uchihara’s remarkable career began in 1970 at Camp Lester, working at what was then the U.S. Army Hospital Ryukyu Islands.

Lt. Steven Frazier, assigned to Strike Fighter Squadron 147, received the honor of this historic feat by landing in an F-35C Lighting II after flying routine operations in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of operation.
