As Tucson’s NBC affiliate, KVOA serves more than a million people. It is Tucson’s second-oldest TV station, dating back to September 1953. The station brought the first live TV event to southern Arizona: the 1954 World Series. TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Tucson Fire Department crews are battling a working fire near Rosemont and 5th Street. Firefighters are on scene working to extinguish the blaze. Everyone appears to have made it out of the house safely, according to Tucson Fire. No further details about the fire have been released at this time.
Cyclist has minor injuries after contact with TPD patrol vehicle
TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - A cyclist sustained minor injuries after making contact with a Tucson Police Department patrol vehicle near Tucson and Broadway, according to TPD. Officers were trying to detain an individual who fled on a bicycle. The patrol vehicle and cyclist made contact at some point during the incident, according to TPD. The cyclist was not transported to the hospital for treatment.
Gun and drugs seized in Reid Park safety sweep, Tucson police say
TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - Tucson police seized drugs and a firearm during an operation at Reid Park earlier this month focused on enforcement and quality-of-life issues. According to the Tucson Police Department, Operations Divisions Midtown and South officers conducted the deployment as part of the Safe City Initiative. The operation included outreach services, mobile arraignments and resources for people in crisis. Police contacted 22 people during the operation.
