Houston’s independent film scene is preparing to unleash a new supernatural nightmare. Dark Lightning Films has announced the upcoming horror production Veil of the Damned. Writer and director Damir Catic leads the Houston-based production, which is expected to debut in 2027. The film draws inspiration from Mexico’s infamous mannequin bride legend. The story centers on an antique collector living in a small Texas border town. His life changes after receiving a mysterious shipment from Mexico.

Olivia Colman and Alexander Skarsgård are getting wrapped up in one of the strangest romances of the year. Black Bear has revealed new details for Wicker, an audacious comedic fable about sex, marriage, and social convention. The film centers on an ostracized fisherwoman played by Colman. Another iconic mythology series from Rick Riordan is finally making its way to Disney+! After ruminations and fan speculation, Riordan’s second book series, The Kane Chronicles, is now confirmed to be officially in development. Per Deadline, The Kane Chronicles will be getting a live-action series adaptation on Disney+. DC is giving Batman fans two Dark Knights for the price of one this Batman Day. Batman of Two Worlds will headline DC’s Batman Day celebration with two original stories inside one special comic. The release brings Batman and Absolute Batman together while showcasing how differently each hero approaches justice.
