2026 fantasy football: IDP draft strategy, players to target & how Travis Hunter factors in
Every fantasy manager knows the feeling. They’ve perused the matchups, identified the perfect defense/special teams (D/ST) unit and are ready to reap the rewards of a well-researched decision … only luck has other ideas. Their defense ends up facing short fields, perhaps even starting multiple possessions in the red zone, due to turnovers or stagnation on the other side of the ball. Too many points against follow, and the week is ruined as far as that roster spot goes.
Aaron Donald expects to play at 'high level' in return to Rams: If I didn't, 'I wouldn't be here'
Aaron Donald is back in the NFL and with the Rams, and the three-time Defensive Player of the Year feels like he hasn’t lost a beat. "Do I feel like I can play at a high level? Yes. Do I feel like I can still be myself? 100%," Donald said Sunday. "If I didn't feel like that, I wouldn't be here." The 35-year-old defensive tackle officially returned to the Rams on Sunday, partaking in his first practice session since retiring following the 2023 campaign.
Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels earns Bucs QB2 gig behind Baker Mayfield
Thirty-two NFL teams overlooked Jalon Daniels during the 2026 NFL Draft, including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Four months later, the former Kansas quarterback is the primary backup on the NFC South favorites. With a strong training camp and preseason, Daniels leapfrogged Jake Browning and Connor Bazelak for the No. 2 QB gig behind Baker Mayfield. “I’m proud of Jalen,” Mayfield said from his charitable event at Topgolf on Sunday via The Tampa Bay Times.
Four NFL teams keep four QBs on initial 53-man rosters
For most of the offseason, we’d discussed the Pittsburgh Steelers’ plan to keep four quarterbacks as an anomaly. It turns out the Steel City footballers weren't the only club to play the 4-QB card this offseason. Following cutdown day, four NFL teams kept a quartet of signal-callers on their initial 53-man rosters.
Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy makes initial 53-man roster
J.J. McCarthy is sticking around in Minnesota. Despite rumblings that suggested McCarthy could be cut or traded by Sunday's 6 p.m. ET roster deadline, the former first-round pick made the Vikings' initial 53-man roster. McCarthy entered Minnesota's 2026 training camp with a chance to compete with new acquisition Kyler Murray for the starting job, but never managed to make the battle interesting.

The 33-year-old wide receiver began his career with the Giants as the No. 12 overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft and has now returned to where it all began after he was out of the league for the entire 2025 season.
NFL Network: Aaron Donald unretiring, coming back to play for Rams on one-year, $20 million deal
He’s back. Future Pro Football Hall of Famer Aaron Donald, more than two years after retiring and months after stoking a comeback frenzy, will return to play for the Los Angeles Rams. The three-time AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year is coming out of retirement to bolster the Rams’ push for a Super Bowl, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday.

The NFL announced on Sunday that it has placed Denver Broncos lineback Jonathon Cooper on the Commissioner's Exempt List. Cooper is not permitted to practice nor attend games while on the list, but he is allowed to be at the team's facility and attend meetings.
