We are taking part in planned emergency preparedness exercises with partner emergency services tomorrow (Thursday 1 October) from 7am to 4pm. These are test exercises only which are designed to ensure that we, alongside other emergency services, remain fully prepared to respond effectively to a major incident. Essex Fire Service personnel and vehicles will be at the hospital and staff will be practising putting on specialist suits and practising putting up specialist tents.

NHS Western Isles is encouraging women to attend their breast screening appointments as the Breast Screening Mobile Unit has begun operating in it’s new location in Stornoway. The mobile screening unit is now based in the Co-op car park on Macaulay Road, Stornoway, following feedback from local residents. The decision to move the location from the Western Isles Hospital came after a survey was carried out with those who attended the screening unit during its last visit to the Western Isles.

More than 140 members of the public, partner organisations and staff attended our annual general and members’ meeting (AGM) at York Racecourse on Wednesday 16 September, highlighting the work done across our mental health, learning disability, autism and ADHD services. The event’s information marketplace brought together more than 40 trust teams and services, giving attendees the opportunity to learn more about the support available from the organisation.

Every year, Berkshire Healthcare Charity helps turn staff-led ideas into real improvements for patients, families, carers, and communities across Berkshire. Through their annual Better Together grant giving programme, their mission is to fund projects that make healthcare feel kinder, more personal, and easier to access. This year, 17 projects have received funding, each inspired by the people who use and deliver healthcare services every day.

More than 200 colleagues, service users, carers, partners and community organisations attended Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), coming together to celebrate achievements from the past year and look ahead to the future. The day began with a programme of wellbeing activities, which proved popular with attendees.

A new Macmillan Cancer Support Centre at Stepping Hill Hospital has celebrated its official opening. The centre was formally opened by Gemma Peters, Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, alongside Karen James OBE, Chief Executive of Stockport NHS Foundation Trust, and Michelle Davies, Associate Director of Nursing for Cancer. They were joined by patients, Macmillan professionals, Trust colleagues, partners and supporters who have contributed to the development of the centre.

Powerful artwork depicting the five stages of grief is the latest to go on display at University Hospitals Tees. The striking piece, created by 17-year-old artist Cara Ramsey, focuses on conveying how people experience and express emotions during difficult periods of their lives. The artwork has been installed within the medical examiners office at the University Hospital of North Tees and visualises each stage of grief differently by subtle changes in colour, texture, symbolism and composition.
