FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Las Vegas, NM — Today, Attorney General Raúl Torrez announced that the New Mexico Department of Justice will be opening a consumer complaint office inside of the Fourth Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Las Vegas, New Mexico. The NMDOJ will have a consumer advocate inside of the office ready to assist victims of the Hermit’s Peak/Calf Canyon fire. Walk-in hours are Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Albuquerque, NM – This afternoon, a jury convicted Izaiah Garcia of first-degree murder, depraved mind murder, shooting at a motor vehicle, armed robbery, assault with intent to commit a violent felony, tampering with evidence, child abuse and conspiracy. Garcia is guilty on all counts related to the 2019 murder of 21-year-old Cayla Campos. Garcia could face life plus 23 years, sentencing will be scheduled at a later date.

February 26, 2024 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Albuquerque, NM — New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and a bipartisan coalition of states, today announced the filing of a lawsuit that challenges the proposed merger of Kroger and Albertsons. Kroger and Albertsons are the two largest national supermarket chains in the country and this merger presents a significant risk of reduced competition and higher food prices nationwide.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Santa Fe, NM – House Bill 50 has been prefiled in the State Legislature by Senator Pete Campos and Representatives Ambrose Castellano and Joseph Sanchez, requesting $2.5 million dollars to fund integrated substance use disorder programs for northeastern New Mexico. These programs would offer support to those in the area who find themselves self-medicating or suffering from substance abuse disorder.
