Wikipedia image CANTON — A cat in De Peyster, a raccoon in Canton and a skunk in Ogdensburg have tested positive for rabies, bringing the number of confirmed animal cases in St. Lawrence County this year to 21, county public health officials said Friday. The New York State Department of Health’s Wadsworth Laboratory confirmed the results after the animals were submitted for testing by the St. Lawrence County Public Health Department.

GOUVERNEUR -- Three Gouverneur men face drug possession charges and one of them additionally faces felony weapon possession counts following a state police traffic stop Wednesday in Syracuse. Ryan Rose, 24, Troy W. Brothers, 27, and Jason A. Guinup, 46, are each charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after troopers allegedly found suspected methamphetamine and fentanyl in the 2008 Dodge Ram pickup truck in which they were traveling.

Four people, including a 4-month-old girl, were injured in a two-vehicle crash Sept. 15 on state Route 345 in Waddington, according to New York State Police. Troopers responded to the crash at about 12:34 p.m. Police said Benjamin P.
