Field standouts lead Section 10 at NYS T-F Championships

Three school record holders led Section 10’s entries in the New York State High School Track-Field Championships Saturday and Sunday. Madrid-Waddington’s Tyree Hawkins produced the top placing of the day taking fourth in the Class C boys discus throw with a 154-5 toss and Potsdam’s Xaiden Morey bettered his own school record in the Outdoor Pentathlon scoring 2794 points to place fourth.

Penn Yan races past Canton to Class D State Championship Game

CORTLAND — Penn Yan Academy entered Friday’s New York State Semi-Final Game against Canton Central as the most dominant team in the Class D bracket of girls lacrosse. The Canton Central girls lacrosse team honored their two future college players, Saige Blevins and Olivia Francey, who shared their Hard Hat Award which was presented after the game. The duo accounted for the Bears' four goals in a state semi-final loss to Penn Yan Academy.

SLC’s overwhelmed by Deposit-Hancock after promising start

BINGHAMTON — St. Lawrence Central enjoyed a very promising start to its New York State Class C girls softball game against Section 4 Champion Deposit-Hancock which was delayed by rain Friday. D-H has won 10 state titles at the Class C and Class D level including four straight in Class D in a streak that was ended last season. Aggressive lead off hitter and pitcher A.J. Sweet drove a rising Aubrey Smith fastball to deep left field for a double as the game’s first batter.
