Overall, Ace Combat 8 is still the immaculately crafted flight combat game we have all come to enjoy, but there is a more visceral aspect to the game now. From how you feel massive explosions to repeatedly breaking, as well as surpassing, the sound barrier. So I raise a humble hand of hope that this game will find its audience and that they will have a modicum of sympathy for the nomadic Sotoans even after all the carnage they have caused.

Seven years after its predecessor, Urban Games has delivered a big step forward with «Transport Fever 3». The switch from the old interface and rules takes some getting used to, but after a few hours I was back in tinkering mode. I like that «Transport Fever 3» is no longer a guaranteed money-maker thanks to its high purchase and maintenance costs.

As usual, Nightdive knocks it out of the park by revitalizing classic titles with enhanced visuals, gameplay improvements, and accessibility. I have also played a lot of much worse Garfield games over the years. Perhaps the single most shocking aspect about Garfield: Escape from Monday is how effortlessly decent and trouble-free it is.

Moving beyond turn-based RPGs, real-time combat or hybrid forms of the two, this title attempts to break new ground and shake up the genre with a concept that almost feels like a rhythm game at some points. The developers may have been a bit too ambitious however. A reduction in the number of abilities and tutorials would have probably been better. Yet once players get the hang of it the game offers a rewarding sense of accomplishment.

We’re already dealing with minotaurs and rolling bone wheels, might as well tear open the heavens in the process. It’s a bit dumb, but it’s such an enjoyable dumb that you can get drawn in fairly quickly. With a decent fantasy soundtrack that doesn’t feel cookie cutter and an inarguably unique art direction, Blades and Battles stands proudly to represent what I can only classify as Arthurian fanfiction.

Direct sequels simply don't get much better than Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. With its already excellent predecessor setting the stage, this brilliantly heartfelt RPG is free to tell an outstanding character-driven story.

Its absurd humor did give it a distinct flavor, but with the meaningless rewards and progression this wasn't a game I really wanted to stare at for too long. Because in the end that made me a bit too aware of how hollow it feels. Sniper Dan is a competent game, but once you've shot your shot, that is about all I can say. Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave is gigantic. That vastness can occasionally act as a barrier between the player and the core tactics, but it is somehow able to support all that weight with memorable battles and a sharp gameplay loop. In the end, the only major problem is vacuous writing -- and lots of it.
