LAHORE – The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has released data about the damage caused by monsoon rains this year. The fact sheet includes the status of monsoon rains, water levels in rivers, barrages and dams and losses to public life and property. So far, 39 citizens have died and 103 were injured in rain-related mishaps, while 47 houses were affected. The dead include 20 children, five women and 14 men.

LAHORE – The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday announced an 18-member Shaheens squad to tour England on July 17 for two three-day and three 50-over matches. The dates and venues of the fixtures will be announced in due course. Saud Shakeel (19 Tests) is set to lead the team, while he will be joined by three other Test-capped players in Mir Hamza (seven Tests), Musa Khan (one Test) and Sajid Khan (12 Tests).

After making waves in Lahore, and parts of Punjab, vehicle emission testing finally comes to Islamabad as government opened new testing points across capital, giving people opportunity to get their vehicles tested for emissions amid crackdown. The vehicle emission testing has been started in capital city in new initiative of Islamabad Transport Authority (ITA) and Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), amid large-scale drive to cut city’s air pollution levels.

Amid the alarming situation, Lahore High Court ordered all restaurants in the metropolis to close by midnight, aiming to reduce pollution levels. The court stressed urgency of addressing climate-related challenges and warned that violations of new restaurant timings will lead to legal action amid broader efforts to combat environmental degradation in region.
