MONTREAL — LaSalle College has obtained creditor protection after the Quebec government fined the institution $30 million for having too many students in its English-language programs. The college is also asking the government to reinstate subsidies for the coming academic year that were withheld because of the fines. Classes were supposed to begin this week but will be on hold until they receive the funding.

(AP) — A Massachusetts woman wanted in connection with the death of her police officer husband was found dead near a hospital Monday during an intensive law enforcement search that included drones, boats and tracking dogs, authorities said. Karen Solomon, an advocate who called for improvements and greater awareness of police mental health problems, had disappeared after Kurt Solomon, who served 31 years with Worcester police, was found dead at their home Tuesday morning.

On Saturday, the U.S. imposed new tariffs to roughly five per cent of all of Canada’s exports to the United States, to a value of roughly $28 billion annually. The tariffs are grouped by three executive orders loosely themed around motor vehicles, dairy and alcohol.
