FORT MYERS – Thursday’s game between the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels and the Bradenton Marauders was postponed due to severe weather and unpayable field conditions. The two teams will play a doubleheader today, July 10. Both games will be seven innings. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 4:35 p.m. with gates opening at 4 p.m. Coverage begins at 4:10 p.m. on the Mighty Mussels Baseball Network.
The 2025-2026 District Grade Report for the School District of Lee County showed the highest point total in a decade, as well as 29 schools improving their letter grades from a year ago. The district also strengthened its overall B rating. The state’s School Grades Report showed 24 schools earning an A, and 29 schools earning a B. Four schools improved by two letter grades and 25 improved by one letter grade. There were 37 more points earned collectively this year than last for district schools.

Environmental agencies are looking toward mandatory mitigation after protected mangroves were removed at Seven Islands without the required permits last month. The mangroves along the shoreline of one of the manmade “hammerhead” islands were removed by a contractor as part of a land-clearing effort for what is to become Gulf Gateway Resort & Marina, a project of the landowner, Forest Development.

Community members are encouraged to donate new, full size, unopened items, such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, body wash and feminine hygiene products. Clear backpacks are also needed so children can carry the items home.
