BOX ELDER –– The Huron Tigers, ranked fourth in Class 11AA in this week’s poll, took out the frustration of a first-week loss on the Douglas Patriots with a big 60-0 win Friday in Box Elder. With special heat conditions due to a 95-degree temperature at opening kickoff, Huron may have come out even hotter than the steamy conditions. Anderson Porisch connected with Jimmy Shoultz Jr. on the first play of the game for a 26-yard gain into Douglas territory.

Wolsey-Wessington 3, De Smet 0 WOLSEY — Wolsey-Wessington recorded a sweep against De Smet on Tuesday. The Lady Warbirds won with set scores of 25-11, 25-18 and 25-15. Marley Boomsma recorded nine kills on 23 of 23 attacks for Wolsey-Wessington. Preslie Jensen had seven kills on 13 of 14 hits, while Maria Nelson had four kills on 14 of 19 hits. HURON –– Thelma Cambronne, age 95, of Huron, passed away on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Huron Regional Medical Center in Huron. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at First Baptist Church in Huron with burial to follow at Ideal Cemetery in Huron. Visitation, with her family present, will begin at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, at First Baptist Church. Thelma Boos was born to Fred and Eddy (Black) Boos on August 20, 1931, in Huron.
