While politicians continue to debate Texas sports betting like it’s a state secret, PrizePicks has quietly moved its new prediction market service into Texas – and 47 other states. The Atlanta-based fantasy sports operator recently became a registered Futures Commission Merchant through its subsidiary, Performance Predictions II, LLC, which allows the company to offer prediction markets under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the National Futures Association.
FanDuel Predicts Launches in Texas, 12 Other States
While politicians in Austin are still trying to figure out if adults can be trusted with a parlay, on Wednesday, FanDuel Predicts launched in 13 new states, including in the Lone Star State. This brings the prediction market platform’s total reach to 18 states. The app initially launched in just five states – Alabama, Alaska, North Dakota, South Carolina, and South Dakota – in December. All five either do not allow sports wagering or allow it only through retail casinos.
Prediction Market Ads Coming to A Google Platform Near You
The top advertising platform in the world will begin accepting ads from prediction markets on Jan. 21. Alphabet Inc., which owns both the No. 1 search engine in the US, Google, and the largest video-sharing platform, YouTube, is the first tech company to publicly announce its intention to accept advertising from prediction markets. The prediction market (PM) ads will be classified as financial products, as opposed to gambling.
