The Tomb Raider franchise suffers yet another delay. Similarly to Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, Tomb Raider: Catalyst has now been pushed back by a year and is set to release in 2028 instead. Two Tomb Raider games, Legacy of Atlantis and Catalyst, were announced at the 2025 Game Awards. They were set to release in 2026 and 2027, respectively. However, this is no longer the case for either of them.
John Wick is secretly one of the best fantasy franchises of the last decade
Some of the very best fantasy stories begin with a simple question: What if there was another world hiding beneath our own? Sometimes kids crawl through a wardrobe and wind up meeting a talking lion, like in The Chronicles of Narnia. Or maybe there’s an impossible train platform like in Harry Potter. Even a rundown bathhouse can be a world of wonder in the case of Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.
World of Warcraft is seemingly returning to D&D after 20 years
A deleted Roll20 blog post seemingly revealed an official crossover between Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft ahead of a planned announcement, presumably at Gen Con 2026 next week. EN World first reported that Roll20 briefly published a post declaring that preorders for “D&D World of Warcraft” were live, accompanied by promotional artwork featuring the two franchises’ logos. Although Roll20 quickly removed the post, its preview and imagery remained accessible for a short time afterward.
Xenoblade Chronicles 2's new character makeovers are a way bigger deal than you'd think
There's been a trend lately of semi-recent titles receiving a Nintendo Switch 2 version and still requiring players to buy it at full price — even if it's already owned. Luckily, this is not the case with Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which is getting its upgraded version on July 30. Its upgrade pack features more than just the visual update, though, promising new storylines and better graphics.
HBO's Lanterns finally reveals its alien threat in new trailer
If HBO's Lanterns looked a little too grim and grounded — and not green enough — for your tastes, a new trailer for the True Detective-inspired mystery series might just change your mind. Revealed Friday at San Diego Comic-Con, the final trailer for HBO's Green Lantern show takes things out of its small-town setting and into space. Lanterns is raising the stakes by bringing a new threat to the DCU: Manhunters. In DC Comics lore, Manhunters are the predecessors to the Green Lantern Corps.
10 new movies to watch this weekend on Prime Video, HBO Max and Hulu (July 24-26) Original
Christopher Nolan may be dominating the big screen this month — at least until Spider-Man shows up on July 31 — but there's still plenty of new releases to watch at home. As we head into the weekend, plenty of genre movies and blockbusters are free to stream or rent and purchase digitally, including the latest Star Wars movie and Steven Spielberg’s most recent take on aliens.
Splatoon Raiders is a solid first step into the inky shooter games
Splatoon might look all cutesy and approachable, with its turf wars and stylish squid kids. (And no, that's ink, not blood.) And sure, it's a lot less brutal than Call of Duty. If you jump in thinking the single-player campaign was enough of a tutorial, though, you're in for a rude surprise. For as casual as Splatoon is, it's a sweaty, unforgiving series that happily stomps newcomers into the ground before they have a chance to learn.
HBO Max's Rick and Morty spinoff is so good it's already been renewed for season 2
Rick and Morty’s first spinoff, President Curtis, doesn’t premiere until July 26, when it will air right after the finale of Rick and Morty season 9. But Adult Swim is so confident in the show that it’s already been renewed for a second season. The announcement was made July 24 during a San Diego Comic-Con panel featuring co-creators and executive producers Dan Harmon and James Siciliano along with stars Keith David, Stephanie Beatriz, and Jim Rash.
Halo fans annoyed that the new remake kills you for going outside the level
Years ago, Bethesda famously marketed The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim with an enticing call to adventure: "If you see that mountain, you can go to it." But Halo did it first. In early Halo games, it was a rite of passage to try to escape the confines of its linear levels, exploring the mountains and buildings that bordered the pathways you were meant to stick to. So the fact that you seemingly can't replicate this trick in the new Halo: Campaign Evolved remake has upset some long-time fans.
Halo: Campaign Evolved teases Halo 2 remake and finally addresses a 25-year-old plot hole
Halo: Campaign Evolved, Halo Studios' remake of the first Halo game, is in the wild and already setting up a possible Halo 2 remake in the same style. That's probably not a surprise, given that Halo is one of Xbox's marquee franchises and remakes tend to be quite popular. Games get sequels and Halo's had plenty of them. But a new version of the original game's ending does offer something new to longtime Halo fans.
