This month, J.J. Martin – founder of luxury lifestyle brand La DoubleJ – shares the special things that add some joy to her everyday. J.J. loves grabbing a coffee from Leonardo, a chic cafe based in Milan, wearing her Nike Air Jordan high-tops and escaping to Lake Como on the weekend.

I can think of no greater compliment than “you smell great.” It’s particularly annoying, then, that it’s only when someone leans in for a hug that I hear it. I layer body lotions and oils and hair perfumes; I spend an unholy amount of time in the laundry aisle of the supermarket. Not to mention the perfume itself, which I’ve sprayed on just about every pulse point. You’d think that would be enough to leave a trail. Reader, it is not.

If you're hosting friends and family for Sunday lunch this weekend, feeding vegetarian guests can be a conundrum. Indeed, for a meal that's often centred around meat, what do you serve that's just as good as the main event? A suggestion: Pickled beetroot tart with goat’s cheese, which is as delicious as it is lovely to look at on the table – so good in fact, non-vegetarian guests might be tempted to load a slither onto their dinner plate, too.
