While the signals are increasing, the most important indicators are not flashing red. Yet. For Putin to the inglorious club of Hussein, Ceaușescu, Qaddafi, and so many others, there first needs to be serious political infighting between the power factions of the Kremlin. Trump said: “I think Ukraine, militarily, they’re defeated,” Trump said, ticking off Russia’s destruction of Ukraine’s military assets. He claimed that “about 82%” of Ukraine’s missiles have been eliminated and also “most” of its drones. He added, “Their economy is crashing… Their money is valueless. They’ve got inflation that nobody’s ever seen before. Other than that, I think they’re doing quite well.” Well, if Trump were a normal president, that might worry me.

DONATE There is a tendency to separate “the front” from everything else. To believe that only those carrying rifles or flying drones are shaping the outcome. That is incomplete thinking. Modern war runs on logistics, resilience, and the ability of civilians to endure. Ukrainians are tough, but they do need help.
