It is a story of how, when it comes to policy, good intentions can often lead to bad outcomes, from work shortage to the housing crisis, and from infrastructure to clean air. It is an engaging and insightful discussion, from which both liberals and conservatives can learn a lot. A recent feature by Gerald Drissner in Credo, the wealth journal of the Liechtenstein Global Trust, struck certain chords with my own experiences. What did I love most about each book? My favorite read in 2025 I kept seeing recommendations for this book on Shepherd, but I was reluctant to try it. Many years ago, I tried a progressive fantasy book, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. This was a colossal mistake on my part because Dungeon Crawler Carl is a work of genius. This book is one of the funniest, most beautiful books I have ever read. The satire is biting, and I love the characters from the bottom of my heart.

I know I love a book if I’ve read it twice and actually consider reading it a third time. The Child and the River, which has been described as a French Huckleberry Finn, appeals to me because it echoes, in a sense, how I was as a child. The protagonist dreams of racing outside and making his way to a river—when his father has explicitly asked him not to go there. But of course, the child gets to the river, and more, when his parents are out of town!
