New engagement plan set for Brennan Park Recreation Centre upgrades
The District will be focussed on gaining more feedback on the future of Brennan Park Recreation Centre in the coming months. Council endorsed the recreation centre task force (RCTF) engagement plan at its July 14 committee of the whole meeting. This is part of Phase 1 of the task force’s three-phase project. The goal of the overall project is to create a long-term plan for the future of the Brennan Park Recreation Centre, looking at expansions and upgrades to the facility.

Boston Bar blaze destroys more homes as B.C. wildfire numbers spike
The out-of-control Ainslie Creek wildfire north of Boston Bar, B.C., has destroyed at least seven buildings, including four homes or seasonal cabins, an official with the Fraser Valley Regional District said Friday amid a spike in wildfire activity in the province. Patricia Ross, chair of the board of directors for the district, said more losses may be confirmed once it's safe to conduct further assessments.
No cyclospora outbreaks reported or tainted lettuce sold in Canada, officials say
OTTAWA — Federal officials say there have been no outbreaks of the diarrhea-causing parasite cyclospora in Canada and that no lettuce implicated in an ongoing U.S. outbreak has been distributed in the country. Iceberg lettuce from Mexico served at Taco Bell restaurants in five American states has been identified as a source of the outbreak.
