New engagement plan set for Brennan Park Recreation Centre upgrades

The District will be focussed on gaining more feedback on the future of Brennan Park Recreation Centre in the coming months. Council endorsed the recreation centre task force (RCTF) engagement plan at its July 14 committee of the whole meeting. This is part of Phase 1 of the task force’s three-phase project. The goal of the overall project is to create a long-term plan for the future of the Brennan Park Recreation Centre, looking at expansions and upgrades to the facility.

District of Squamish remains on standby to assist with Pemberton wildfire

Is the District of Squamish helping with the Pemberton Signal Hill wildfire? The District says Squamish Fire Rescue offered firefighting support, and the Squamish Emergency Program has reached out to offer assistance, but, so far, Pemberton Fire Rescue has not requested help. “This may change if the situation changes, as currently the wildfire is not within Pemberton Fire Rescue’s response area and is in the BC Wildfire’s jurisdiction,” said Christina Moore, spokesperson for the District.

Squamish affordable housing policy update aims to improve rental access

Helping more locals get into affordable rentals: that is the name of the game. Over the next 11 months, the District is setting out to update its affordable rental housing policy in an effort to make it more effective. District consultant Jessie Abraham presented the scope of an update to the Perpetually Affordable Housing Policy at the July 14 committee of the whole.
