Surfing ain’t long-hairs and doobie-suckers no more. Surfing is suited-and-booted stockbrokers. It’s university students who’ve smelt the roses and don’t swallow the evening news. It’s just-18-year-olds whose trunks end above the knee. Surfing is beavertails and logs and empowered women who ain’t adverse to a Brazilian cut, but it’s also 540s and double oops. Right now, surfing is goddamn hot and, most of all, inspired.
And Stab is inspired by it. Source

Watch: The William Aliotti Surfboard Test
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... Less than 24 hours after launching our Stab Premium survey, more than a thousand members had weighed in, telling us what they like, what they don’t, and what they’d like to see more of on Stab. History has taught us that, if you’re given the chance to vote, it’s probably best not to surrender it. Otherwise, the dimwits end up making the decisions. In this case, the dimwits would be us.
Is The Y2K Trend Dead? | StabMic Ep. 22
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... “I used to just drift through the world and have all these magic moments surfing. Now, I try so hard to make them happen, and it’s just so rare. I can’t believe how lucky I was.” For those suffering from Dane deficiency, some numbers: in the average StabMic episode, Dane accounts for roughly 15% of the single-camera shots. This time, he’s north of 50%. Which is to say: this is the most Dane-heavy conversation we’ve ever released.
Gabriel Medina (Supposedly) Got Engaged Yesterday, The Stats Tell Us He’s Deadly In Love
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... In October, Gabriel Medina and then-girlfriend-now-fiancée Isabella Arantes cryptically revealed that they were expecting a baby. Except they weren’t. The whole thing was a Slaterean psyop to bring exposure to his surf brand for children, Medininha. It worked. Medina’s post racked up more than 300,000 likes and 5,000 comments. The new Medininha account quickly gained over 16,000 followers.

Before you lash out at us for publishing old news, the clip above was only just posted to Graham Bensinger’s Instagram. Coincidence or not, it reappeared just a couple of weeks after we aired Episode 10 of Season 2 of How Surfers Get Paid, titled The Bounty Hunters.
How One Stab Employee Missed Out On Beachbreak Perfection With Dane Reynolds
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... I hate this video… Why? A few reasons. Andrew Schoener texted me an empty wave clip at 1:18pm before this session went down. “Dude it’s kinda firing,” he wrote. Being a new dad I replied: “Im stuck at home… is it actually that good?” Desperately seeking validation that I wasn’t really missing much. Andrew, unburdened by empathy, replied back: “It looks so dreamy.” Four hours go by and I hear nothing.

Griffin Colapinto’s New Favourite Board Was Shaped In 1996
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... A person who makes their living selling surfboards, some from SITD-winning labels, was recently heard complaining that “kids” are not willing to pay full price for brand new shop boards and are finding over-20-year-old used ones on the second hand market instead. In hyper-accelerationist times, surfing still allows for a moment of disconnection, and perhaps resistance.
Jordy Smith & Friends Feast On Durban’s Reverse Skeleton Bay
Loading Audio Player By Instaread, Please Wait... “That section there is the best section there.” Another entry for the yet-to-be-published Tao of Jordy Smith. Absent from El Salvador and Brazil due to an injury, the ageless Stab Mic mascot reappears with what looks like a fully recharged energy bar, this time around his hometown of Durban in the company of a local crew notoriously adept at travelling through the insides of below-sea-level kegs.
