In a statement from Anthem, the company claims Northern Light Health walked away from the mediation process.

Fire Marshal’s office investigating suspicious device after traffic stop A suspicious device is being investigated by state authorities after a traffic stop in Newcastle. On Monday, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office stopped a car in response to a traffic violation. The driver was arrested on scene and taken to the Lincoln County Jail on an outstanding arrest warrant. As police investigated the vehicle they located appeared to resemble an explosive device.

Acres burned in wildfire in Hancock According to the Ellsworth American, more than a dozen area fire departments responded to a wildfire in Hancock on Sunday. The publication says the flames burned one acre of wildland on Simon’s Pond Road. Authorities got the blaze under control at around 4PM and nobody was injured in the incident. Hancock Fire Chief Chris Holmes says the cause is not confirmed yet but it was possibly started by someone camping in the woods.

Three-Car Collision in Camden Two people were taken to the hospital Friday evening after a three-car collision on Route 1 in Camden. According to the Pen Bay Pilot, Just after 7:30PM all three cars were traveling northbound after one vehicle failed to stop at a red light. The paper says another car behind the vehicle that failed to stop also did not stop and a car traveling from the right did the same.

Crime, Public Safety, Drugs Officials Release Information on Body Found on Campobello (Campobello) The Washington County Sheriff’s Office has issued an update regarding a body discovered Sunday near Wilson’s Beach Campobello New Brunswick. Canadian authorities identified the body as that of 47 yo Daryle Hall of Eastport. About the same time Hall’s body was discovered, a family member reported he had been missing, along with his vehicle, since the prior evening.

Local Politics Spitting Incident in Mount Desert (Mt. Desert) Mount Desert’s new Town Manager, Alex Kimball, is not likely to forget his first Select Board meeting. The Mount Desert Islander reports Monday’s meeting began with Town Assessor Kyle Avila addressing and apologizing for a spitting incident that has circulated on social media. According to a September 10th post made by Adam Bradshaw, Avila allegedly spit on Bradshaw’s truck, while one of his crew members was sitting inside the vehicle.

Crime/Public Safety/Drugs Arrest Made in Case of Threats Made Against UNE (Biddeford) Authorities on Tuesday arrested a man at a restaurant in Cornish in connection with threats made Monday against the University of New England. Public Information Officer Shannon Moss reports to Star 97.7, Maine State and Biddeford Police took 24 yo Blake Tibbetts of Cornish into custody for comments he made, referencing potential threats against UNE.

Crime/Public Safety/Drugs Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Man on Disorderly Charges (Gouldsboro) The Hancock County Sheriff’s Department was called to Route One in Gouldsboro over the weekend on a report of a man obstructing the roadway and acting in a disorderly manner. Authorities arrived in the 300 block of Route One shortly before 1:30 Saturday afternoon and warned 41 yo Douglas Julius about his actions.

Crime/Public Safety/Drugs Vigils Held Statewide for Activist Charlie Kirk (Maine) The assassination of conservative political activist Charlie Kirk sparked vigils across the country Friday, with those in attendance denouncing political violence. In Maine, supporters gathered in Augusta, Bangor, and Portland, with attendees sharing the hope that the sobering spike in violence would be enough to stun the country into toning down the increasingly divisive rhetoric.

Crime/Public Safety/Drugs Flags to Fly at Half Staff after Charlie Cook Shooting (Maine) Governor Janet Mills has ordered flags to be lowered to half staff until sunset on September 14, following Wednesday’s fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Officials have released video of a person of interest in the shooting, but the hunt for that suspect continues today. Kirk died after being shot at an event at Utah Valley University.
