American Soybean Association Chairman Ray Gaesser has filed nomination papers to be the next Iowa Secretary of Agriculture. Gaesser, R-Corning, released a statement earlier this month announcing his candidacy. Gaesser farms more than 6,000 acres in southwest Iowa. He is expected to face former Iowa Farm Bureau President Craig Lang in the GOP primary before squaring off in a general election this November with Democrat Tim Gannon, a former USDA administrator.
