The Des Moines City Council has approved a preliminary tax abatement deal for a project to convert the former OfficeMax and Dollar General on Ingersoll into a senior day care facility. The shopping plaza's owner once said that Trader Joe's expressed interest in the building at 2700 Ingersoll Ave., but the deal never materialized. Dollar General and OfficeMax exited as the lease terms expired for the now-vacant property.
