(The Center Square) - A bipartisan coalition of lawmakers is set to examine a bill next week to require hospitals and insurance companies to display prices for provided services. Sens. Roger Marshall, R-Kansas, and John Hickenlooper, D-Co., introduced the Patients Deserve Price Tags Act in July 2025, requiring hospitals to publicly report negotiated rates, costs and cash prices for ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers and clinical labs.

Great Things in Great Falls: Festival and fair fun
GREAT FALLS, Mont. — Great Falls has a busy stretch of community events ahead, from a free festival at The History Museum to the Montana State Fair and an upcoming roller derby bout. One event is set for Saturday, July 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The History Museum. The Cottonwood Festival is free and will feature 15 artisans and demonstrators. Organizers said the festival will bring history to life with flintknapping, beadwork, blacksmithing, gold panning and more.

Marilyn Ann Garrett, 88, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Born on Aug. 16, 1937, in Mount Vernon, she was a daughter of the late Fred Hutchison and the late Catherine (Phiester) Hutchison. Marilyn was a devout catholic and a member of St. George Catholic Church. Throughout her 88 years, Marilyn was a woman whose kindness and quiet joys touched all who knew her.
Two services members killed, one missing in Iranian strike
(The Center Square) – Two U.S. service members have been killed in action, and one remains missing following an Iranian missile strike in Jordan, U.S. Central Command announced Saturday afternoon. An additional four U.S. service members were injured but have since been discharged from Jordanian hospitals, according to a statement from CENTCOM. The latest casualties mark the deaths of sixteen service members killed since fighting with Iran began Feb. 28.

BRIDGEPORT, Illinois — Tony Allen Morgan, 61, Bridgeport, died Friday, July 10, 2026. He worked at Bridgeport Grain. Survivors include two children, Corey Morgan and April McCord; two grandchildren; one sister, Tammy Scott; one half-brother, Donald “Donny” Winters; and one half-sister, Angie Tougaw. (The Center Square) - The U.S. Coast Guard is actively engaged in Arctic defense, monitoring and dealing with potential national security threats posed by Chinese ships. Last summer, the Coast Guard chased away Chinese vessels. This week, a USCG Arctic cutter crew monitored two Chinese research ships that entered U.S. waters.
