For the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on the United States, Seal Beach will host a special remembrance ceremony on Sept. 11, starting at Orange County Fire Authority Station 44 in Seal Beach. The event will begin with a remembrance ceremony starting at 6 p.m. at the station. A candlelight procession to the pier will follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. at the end of the pier, two spotlights will be lit to represent the World Trade Center Twin Towers. Station 44 is located at 718 Central Ave.

With e-bike problems mounting in local cities and across Orange County, District Attorney Todd Spitzer has announced the formation of a unit to bring accountability and potentially more prosecutions to mitigate problems associated with electric bikes and motorcycles.

Only three candidates remain in the 2026 District One City Council race. An Aug. 28 email from Scott Davis, addressed to both the Seal Beach City Clerk and the editor of the Sun, announced Davis was suspending his campaign for the District One City Council seat. The petite Centenarian was a Rosie the Riveter from 1942 to 1945 and was small enough to fit in the nose of planes to get bolts in tight areas and especially remembers the friends she made from that experience. Among her other fond memories is the family business in Paramount where she sewed orthopedic shoes for customers from toddlers to seniors like herself.

The Seal Beach Police Department launched a limited-edition “Go Gold” challenge coin fundraiser on Tuesday, Sept. 1, to raise awareness of childhood cancer and support children and families affected by the disease. Five-hundred coins will be available for $20 each while supplies last. At the conclusion of the campaign, proceeds will be divided equally between Choke Cancer and Rady Children’s Health Orange County, formerly known as Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
