Negro Leagues baseball card set is Hanson’s latest project

​Jim Hanson turned his baseball artwork into a bit of a passion project to lift the names and faces of the Negro Leagues through baseball cards he crafted. The Jefferson softball coach, who also runs Clutch Hitters batting cages at Dred Scott and coaches softball and baseball players, has a prolific business as an artist, most recently using baseball cards as his canvas.

Reds secure spot at Tier IA state

The Richfield Reds advanced to the Tier IA state tournament as Sub State Silver champions following a 9-7 win over Washburn July 21. The Reds advanced to state, which began July 27 against Robbinsdale at Alimagnet Park in Burnsville. Richfield not only hosted the Sub State tournament but had to come back through the elimination side of the bracket to advance following an initial 5-3 loss in the second round to the Millers on July 19.

A sports editor for a weekly newspaper in Little Falls, MN for the Morrison County Record in March, 2002.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes! My parents and grandparents each had a typewriter but the striking pieces on the page kept getting stuck.

How is social media changing news?

It's made telling news immediate in a sense that you don't wait until the next edition hits the newsstands or appears on the website.
