The pregame radio show for Texas A&M football games will be two hours, an hour longer than previous years. Andrew Monaco again will handle play-by-play duties for the games with former A&M All-American Dave Elmendorf as the color analyst. Will Johnson will be the sideline reporter. Former A&M receiver Shea Walker and Giovanni Heater have been added to the broadcast team for the pregame show. Walker and Heater will broadcast from outside Kyle Field for home games and will be in studio for road games.

A Bryan man was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly hitting his father-in-law with a pistol. According to the police report, Dexter Alexander, 58, is alleged to have hit his father-in-law in the face with a gun at a home in the 900 block of Orlean Street in Bryan. Officers were first dispatched to the location where the victim had gone to call 911 and found he had a laceration over his right eye and also left of his upper lip. Officers also noted both dry and wet blood on the victim’s clothes.

The Texas A&M Forest Service said it counted fires from June through September for that seasonal ranking. As of the Texas A&M Forest Service's latest update Friday, the fire had burned an estimated 90,400 acres across Palo Pinto and Jack counties and was 38% contained.

A College Station man was arrested Wednesday after police found several different drugs in his home while conducting a search warrant. Police submitted a search warrant affidavit for Placido Nathaniel Rodriguez, 21, and his residence in the 1100 block of Dominik Road in College Station on Tuesday after an investigation into Rodriguez showed come-and-go traffic being conducted by him at his house.

“Many school districts have been forced to close campuses or eliminate programs to tackle budget deficits,” the association said in a statement. “We can’t afford to keep draining increasing amounts of tax dollars from these public schools to support religious and other private schools.” Legislators will tackle Texas’ two-year budget when the next lawmaking session begins in January. Participating families with a child in private school currently qualify for about $10,500 annually.
