Plans have been finalized for this weekend’s annual Labor Day celebration in Summerville, with plenty of activities for the entire family to enjoy. Summerville’s annual Labor Day community festival will begin with the traditional parade, starting at 10:30 a.m. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. at the Summerville church of Christ, and units will line up along Water Street.

EAST BRADY – An East Brady property owner said Tuesday evening she plans to comply with a borough ordinance dealing with overgrown brush, but her son later took the council to task over what he described as ambiguous rules and questionable enforcement. At the Sept.

SLIGO – Sligo Borough Council covered street signs, drainage work, maintenance needs, resident complaints and ongoing projects during a three-hour meeting Tuesday, Sept. 1. Council members said the borough footbridge project remains on schedule. The bridge was delivered Aug. 26, with assembly expected to follow. A progress meeting is set for 10 a.m. Sept. 8, and the project is on track for the Oct. 29 contract deadline.

NEW BETHLEHEM – Redbank Valley area veteran Mel Lufsey was honored with a Quilt of Valor on Tuesday, Sept. 1, during a meeting of the Walter W. Craig American Legion Post 354 in New Bethlehem. The quilt was made and presented by Connie Hale and Patty Girt of the Creekside Quilters. “It takes 30 to 40 hours to make a quilt,” Hale said. Creekside Quilters has previously presented quilts to veterans through the Quilts of Valor program.

CLARION – With the multi-year project completed and offices moved back into the Clarion County Courthouse in July, a large crowd gathered in the main courthouse last Friday to re-dedicate the historic county building following the multi-million dollar renovation project. “This courthouse is more than just a building,” Clarion County President Judge Sara Seidle-Patton told the crowd. She noted that many of the 141-year-old building’s internal systems were near the end of their lives.

COOKSBURG – The following programs are planned in September and October at Cook Forest State Park: • Friday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. — “Owl Prowl.” Bring flashlights and meet at the Park Office for an evening driving tour to owling hotspots in Cook Forest. Explore the old growth forest and National Wild & Scenic Clarion River at night for Pennsylvania’s secretive owls. Barred, great horned, screech and saw-whet owls have been known to make an appearance. • Saturday, Sept.

None Hurt In Vehicle Rollover No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle crash that took place along Route 68 in Monroe Township on Aug. 18 at 1:27 p.m. According to state police, Sonya Ritts, 72, of Emlenton was attempting to exit a private driveway onto Route 68 in her 2025 Dodge Durango, when a 2017 Jeep Patriot, driven by Linda Wedekind, 67, of Shippenville, was pulling from Route 68 into the same driveway.

KELLERSBURG – The Kellersburg Labor Day parade will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 7. Those interested in participating should arrive at Barrett’s bus garage one hour before the parade start to line up. All are welcome to take part.
