September has arrived and everyone is back in school. The days are still as warm as summer, and it is technically still summer for another week and a half, but dry winds and cool breezes whisper that fall is near. Our minds have turned to books, learning and other indoor activities, so I thought that today we would briefly explore the history of libraries. Going to the library was a big part of a kid’s life back in my day.

Clifford Paul Boyer, 75, of Butler, passed away Sunday morning, September 6, 2026, at the Presbyterian University Hospital in Pittsburgh. Born October 26, 1950, in Rimersburg, he was the son of Dorothy and Chester Boyer. Clifford was one of nine children. After graduating from Redbank Valley High School in 1968, Clifford served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War era.

She passed on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at 11:40 p.m. in her home, Sunday being a day of faith, worship and rest. Sundays were her favorite day. Dorothy never met a stranger. She had a way of introducing herself to anyone and everyone, striking up conversations and making friends wherever life took her.
