The Tigers’ offense was shut down by right-hander Aidan King, which set the tone for the rest of the game.

No. 13 Auburn baseball delivered one of its most complete performances of the 2026 season Tuesday night, wiping out Alabama State in a 13-0 run-rule victory at Plainsman Park. The Tigers were dominant from the opening pitch, only allowing one hit and walking one batter while carrying a perfect game into the seventh inning. Auburn’s pitching staff combined for its second straight shutout and extended its scoreless streak to 21 innings.

Going into the SEC Tournament, Auburn is on a rough stretch, having lost seven of its last nine conference matches after beginning SEC play with a 4-1 record. The Tigers will face a familiar opponent in Florida, which Auburn defeated 6-1 earlier this season.

The Tigers suffered their ninth straight loss and fourth straight conference sweep this weekend against their in-state rivals, bringing just one run across the plate in three games against the Crimson Tide. “We have no choice right now but to continue to try to figure this out and push through,” said co-head coach Chris Malveaux. “If we knew why we were stuck in this, we would have fixed the problem already.

The near perfect game for the Tigers came with the help of a great offensive showing where they totaled 14 hits with only two strikeouts in addition to a great outing on from Alex Petrovic. “Amazing,” Auburn head coach Butch Thompson said about the game as a whole.

No. 15 Auburn was unable to overcome an early deficit against Kentucky on Saturday night, falling to the Wildcats 5-4 in game two to even the series. The Tigers drop to 23-11 overall and 7-7 in conference play, and the outcome marks their fourth consecutive game-two loss — previously losing the second matchup of the series to Texas, Alabama, and Arkansas.

Auburn head coach Steven Pearl and company have landed their biggest roster win of the offseason thus far. Standout guard Tahaad Pettiford has announced he will return to the Plains for his junior year, according to a post from Auburn men’s basketball on social media on Saturday afternoon. Pettiford marks the fourth player to announce his intent to return to Auburn for the 2026-27 campaign, joining Kevin Overton, Simon Walker and Sebastian Williams-Adams.
