Federal funds extend employment program in Prescott-Russell

A program at the Employment Services Centre of Prescott and Russell (CSEPR) which which supports the employability and professional development of people with disabilities has been extended. The InterActions project is being extended through continued partial support from the Government of Canada’s Opportunities Fund for Persons with Disabilities. The announcement was made in Hawkesbury on Monday, June 15.

Only full-service abattoir in area for sale

One of only two abattoirs in Prescott-Russell is for sale. The Lefaivre Slaughterhouse is listed for sale with an asking price of $2.2 million. The 5,472 square foot facility is located on County Road 15 south of the village of Lefaivre. The facility is licensed by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Agribusiness and can process beef, pork, goat, deer, elk, and alpaca.

Mini food pantry opens in Casselman

A new cupboard in Casselman allows people in need of food to discreetly obtain it, and for people wanting to contribute food to discreetly donate it. The Casselman Community Mini Food Pantry officially opened on Monday, June 15 and is located behind the Pharmasave drugstore. According to a social media post by Casselman Mayor Geneviève Lajoie, the project began when a resident shared the idea and the Casselman Free Pantry group was formed. The management of the drugstore extended its support.

Faerie festival coming to Curran campground

There remains one aspect which the government seems to have overlooked in planning this high-speed train. That is the number of people who will use it. In other countries where this type of train exists, China, Japan, France, the population is much higher than here in Eastern Canada. In Europe these rails connect with other countries to maximize the number of users.
