LSU Men’s Basketball Head Coach, Matt McMahon, began his press conference Thursday wishing former LSU Men’s Basketball Player Bob Pettit a Happy Birthday. The former Tiger turns 92-years-old. “Really excited for our team and the opportunity we have this weekend,” McMahon said. The LSU Men’s Basketball team will travel to Frisco to take on SMU in the Compete 4 Cause Classic Saturday. One of the players, LSU will have to look out for is SMU Guard Boopie Miller who averages nearly 15 points per game.

LSU has been reaffirmed of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; allowing LSU to continue offering degrees and qualify students for federal and state financial aid. The process of accreditation is one LSU undergoes every 10 years by the SACSCOC, made to ensure the university still complies with their stated mission as well as 73 accreditation standards. LSU has maintained continuous accreditation with SACSCOC since 1913.

LSU ends their three game home stretch with a win over Florida Gulf Coast University. Defeating the Eagles 80-71 helps the Tigers improve their record to 8-1 as they move closer to conference play. LSU's front court took care of business defending the paint and consistently rebounding on each possession. Daimion Collins was a major contribution to this win in his first career start. Racking up a career high 18 points, 5 rebounds and 3 blocks Collins set the tone for this matchup.

LSU's on-campus seismometers managed to detect an earthquake in California. It was not felt by people or animals here, only by very sensitive instruments like seismometers.Their data shows how subtle earthquake waves travel around the globe.

LSU hosted Stanford Thursday for the SEC/ACC Challenge, ultimately defeating the Cardinals 94-88 in overtime. The Lady Tigers trailed nearly the entire game, but sophomore Mikaylah Williams tied the game at 80 points with four seconds left to send it to overtime. Williams was LSU's leading scorer of the night, with 32 points and 9 rebounds. The Purple and Gold went down early, calling their first timeout down 16-5. Stanford's shooting was on point, going 5-7 from three in the first quarter.

LSU junior forward and team captain Jalen Reed tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) early in the first half of LSU’s 85-75 victory over the Florida State Seminoles. This injury will sideline him for the remainder of the season. Reed started the season off strong, after being praised by LSU Head Coach Matt McMahon for the improvements made during the offseason.

LSU Football head Coach Brian Kelly addressed the media following the roller-coaster of National Signing Day and offered insight into the recruiting process that allowed the Tigers to secure such an impressive recruiting class. After the dust settled, the incoming Tigers’ 2025 recruiting class includes 23 players and finishes as the eighth-best recruiting class in the nation.
