The USGA is a nonprofit organization that celebrates, serves, and advances the game of golf. Founded in 1894, we conduct many of golf’s premier professional and amateur championships, including the U.S. Open and the U.S. Women’s Open. With The R&A, we govern the sport via a global set of playing, equipment, handicapping, and amateur status rules. The USGA campus in Liberty Corner, New Jersey, is home to the Association’s Research and Test Center, where science and innovation fuel a healthy and sustainable game for the future. The campus is also home to the USGA Golf Museum, where we honor the game by curating the world’s most comprehensive archive of golf artifacts. Source

126th U.S. Open Field Now Complete With 156 Players

The United States Golf Association (USGA) today announced that two additional players have earned full exemptions into the 126th U.S. Open Championship, to be contested June 18-21 at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club, bringing the number of fully exempt players to 88. Additionally, five alternates from final qualifying were added to complete the 156-player field. J.T. Poston, of Hickory, N.C., earned an exemption based on the current Official World Golf Ranking® (OWGR).

O’Keefe is one of those players who has never done things the conventional way. Growing up, her golf clothes were items found at Goodwill, hand-me downs or the occasional tournament gift. She didn’t even start out with a quality set of clubs. Two years earlier during COVID-19, O’Keefe spent time watching YouTube videos of Bryson DeChambeau trying to increase distance. Without a lot of resources at her disposal, O’Keefe picked up a lacrosse stick and swung it violently in the driveway.
