A former Miss America and a self-described “unfiltered lesbian pro” walk into a bar golf podcast. Turns out, it’s a perfect match. “Quiet Please!” debuted last year, the result of Kira Dixon and Mel Reid thinking separately about launching a podcast and eventually coming together to begin the venture. Or adventure, as it turns out. Its loyal and growing audience owes much to listeners never knowing exactly what they’re going to get.

Rodriguez’s career blossomed as one of the pioneers of the PGA Tour Champions (then Senior Tour). He won three times in his rookie year of 1986, then had the greatest season of his professional life in 1987, recording seven victories that included the Senior PGA Championship. He set two Champions Tour records that still stand: most consecutive victories (4) and most consecutive birdies (8). His 22 Champions Tour wins are tied for seventh most all-time.

It is an appropriate sentiment for a championship that is an enriching mixture of camaraderie and competition. Even so, the 96 players in the 2nd U.S. Adaptive Open, each competing in one of eight impairment categories as well as for the overall titles, were very much playing to win.
