The country’s premier glass art festival marks several anniversaries in 2026, making this year’s event that much more special. Refract returns October 15-18 with scores of glass art events in Seattle and the greater Puget Sound area. Seattle is a wonderful city to visit without a car. I know because I have one, and most days, I decide to leave it at home – especially on the days I’m traveling all over town. The city’s ample and far-reaching transportation options make it easy to explore, even if you wind up in a neighborhood you weren’t expecting to. You don’t have to budget time or money for parking. I have dreamed of visiting Seattle since I was in the third grade. Luckily, as a part of my journalism department at school, we had the opportunity to attend the National Journalism Convention at the Seattle Convention Center in April. As a junior in high school, I had the best time the week I was in Seattle, visiting markets and restaurants and finding small businesses around the city. Everywhere is incredibly walkable and connected, which makes Seattle an amazing place to visit.
