During the BlizzCon Opening Ceremony, Blizzard revealed a lot of information about games like World of Warcraft: Forever, a brand new Starcraft first person shooter, but more importantly for Switch 2 players, that Diablo IV is coming to the platform and it arrives on September 16. Coming via the Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection, players will get the base game and the two expansions Vessel of Hatred and Lord of Hatred, but don’t worry about people hating them, they are fantastic.
The Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle returns to Australia on October 29th
It’s been a big couple of weeks for Mario Kart, and the fun doesn’t stop yet. It was something of a tradition to have a new Mario Kart bundle every holiday period with the original Switch. Then the Switch 2 launched with a Mario Kart World bundle, but it was only for a limited time. Now it’s back. For how long, who knows? It’s another Nintendo Switch 2 Bundle, this time with a digital code for Mario Kart World and a three-month membership for Nintendo Switch Online.
Professor Layton and the Curious Village remake coming in 2027
In an AI-generated nightmare of a presentation, Level-5 has announced that it is working on a remake of Professor Layton and the Curious Village for both the Switch and Switch 2, due to be released in 2027. Professor Layton and the Curious Village originally was a Nintendo DS title, and 18 years later it’s getting a glow-up with 3D characters. It’s now been adapted for a single screen as well. It’ll also run at a higher resolution, which you’d hope given the resolution of the Nintendo DS screen.
Final Fantasy VII: Revelation Preview
I didn’t see the vision when the remake of Final Fantasy VII was revealed to actually be three games. That’s a bit much, isn’t it? But after doing almost everything there is to do in both parts so far, I get it now. Rebirth was a mind-blowing game because it took the globetrotting scale of a classic JRPG and brought it into the modern day without the abstraction.
Nintendo updates Switch 2 bringing docked VRR to the console
When Nintendo revealed the Switch 2 in 2025, many folks got excited for VRR support for the console, but within days of that reveal, Nintendo walked it back advising that VRR would only be supported in handheld mode, that when docked it was not supported. Now the system update 23.0.0 has been released, it has added VRR support when docked, you will of course need to have a TV that supports it. You can see the new toggle below. This is not all that the new update has added, there is a lot more.
Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX is coming to Switch and Switch 2 in February
Of all the announcements in last night’s Nintendo Direct, none were as big as this: one of the best Yu-Gi-Oh games is getting a remake, and it’s coming early next year. Yu-Gi-Oh! Tag Force GX is a remake of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX Tag Force 3 (mind the confusing names), which was originally released on the PSP in Japan and PAL regions back in 2008.

Onyx: The Dark Grip is a Switch 2 exclusive from Bloober Team
Bloober Team, who have been on a little bit of a run lately with their Silent Hill efforts, are bringing an exclusive game to the Nintendo Switch 2. ONYX: The Dark Grip is a handheld-exclusive horror title that makes the Switch 2 not simply just a screen and controller, but a physical window into another world. In the game, you touch the screen to manipulate the game world. There are also tilt controls, and the world can also be affected by the microphone.
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Encore Edition comes to Switch 2 this November
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Encore Edition is coming to the Switch 2 on November 5th. This is not the first time we’ve seen Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy on a Nintendo system, but the last time, for the original Switch, it was a cloud-only version, and well, we didn’t get that here. Encore Edition brings the game to the Switch 2 for real and features two settings. Quality mode targets 30fps at 1440p resolution, while Performance targets 40fps at 1080p.
