I didn’t see the vision when the remake of Final Fantasy VII was revealed to actually be three games. That’s a bit much, isn’t it? But after doing almost everything there is to do in both parts so far, I get it now. Rebirth was a mind-blowing game because it took the globetrotting scale of a classic JRPG and brought it into the modern day without the abstraction.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon opened with a series of questions that decided which of the iconic creatures you would be playing as. It was an exciting feeling, after seeing these cute creatures in so many games and episodes of the anime, that you would be getting to play as one and explore the whimsical world that they inhabit where everybody gets along and works together.

We've played a few hours! It’s a great time to be a JRPG fan, with so many new games releasing alongside remakes of classics in the genre. Dragon Quest fans in particular have been eating well lately, with well-received remakes of the first three games in the series being remade in a beautiful HD-2D style that perfectly captures the idea of combining the strengths of the classics with modern improvements.
