Military Pension Tax Exemption Signed Into Law, Celebration Event Set for Wednesday in Dover
September 8, 2026/Mari Lou Dover’s Air Mobility Command Museum will be the site Wednesday afternoon at 1pm to celebrate the signing of legislation that will increase Delaware’s state income tax exemption for military retirement pay. Senate Bill 219 was sponsored by Senator Eric Buckson and Representative Jeff Hilovsky – it increases the amount of military pension income that can be excluded from Delaware taxable income, regardless of the retiree’s age.

MSP Investigating Murder-Suicide Sunday in Pocomoke
September 8, 2026/Mari Lou Two Pocomoke residents are dead after an apparent murder-suicide Sunday in Somerset County. Maryland State Police were called to a residence on Dividing Creek Road around 7:30pm for a welfare check where they found an unresponsive female – identified as 67 year old Christine Wells, and 66 year old Robert Dehart with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Wells’ death has been ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore.
Vegetation Removal to Begin Today at Lake Gerar in Rehoboth Beach
September 8, 2026/Mari Lou Image courtesy City of Rehoboth Beach Work will begin Tuesday afternoon to remove over 700 cubic yards of floating vegetation from the western prong of Lake Gerar – near Cranberry Park. City officials say that during site work, a 1 to 2-foot thick mass of floating vegetation was seen – and has grown more than 50-feet channel ward of the shoreline in some areas and is obstructing the water column.

Special Event Zone in Place in Ocean City for OC Rock & Ride Bikefest
September 8, 2026/Mari Lou The Special Event Zone is in place in Ocean City ahead of the start of the OC Rock & Ride Bikefest. While the Special Event Zone is in place – speeds are lowered and fines are increased for violations – and is in effect throughout Ocean City as well as all roads in Worcester County. Special Event Zones are in place during motor events due to the high volume of motor vehicles and pedestrians on/near the roadways.

Talk of Delmarva Fishing Report 09/08/26
September 8, 2026/Mari Lou Aaron at Lewes Harbour Marina said no boats fished ocean structure on Labor Day, but the head boats and some private boats did fish structure in Delaware Bay and caught spot and croaker on bloodworms or Fishbites. Smaller boats worked the Lewes and Rehoboth Canal and caught better sized croaker and short flounder. Breakwater Tackle on the fishing pier at Cape Henlopen State Park reported good fishing for spot and croaker along with a few keeper flounder.
